Rental Villas Italy - Meridian Villas

Campania, Sorrento Peninsula, Sorrento

Rental villas offer holidays of walking, hiking, beachside, seaside, village culture, or visiting Pompei, Oplontis, Herculaneum, Vesuvius

Postcard views of Sorrento often concentrate on the impressive cliffs of volcanic rock (tufa) that run down along the coast in this area and plunge perilously into the sea. These cliffs and the wonderfully rich volcanic soils of the area provide wonderful opportunities for spectacular views from panoramic gardens which feature in this area of Italy.

About Sorrento

The physical location of Sorrento makes it a perfect holiday destination for family groups or groups wanting a vacation of exploring the culture of Italy and visiting it's most respected historical and touristic sites.

From Sorrento one is able to leap off to visit Naples, the Isle of Capri, Pompei, Hercolaneum, the Vesuvius Volcano, Amalfi, Positano and Ischia Island, or within a few minutes visit the quaint villages and fishing ports of the hinterland of the Sorrento Peninsula where, for lack of large scale resorts and hotels, tourism hasn't yet had its impact on the local lifestyle and atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the town of Sorrento itself is a buzzing tourist centre with a lively 'passeggiata', day and night markets, wonderful restaurants, gardens, an old centre and many historical and artistic treasures.

Why Sorrento

+ It is handy to all major cultural, historical and tourist attractions
+ It is picturesque and well serviced

Drawbacks

- Sorrento is a busy town and not recommended for those who wish to relax in a quiet environment (we'd recommend a rental villa or apartment in the hinterland at Massalubrense, Nerano or Sant'Agata)
- The traffic in summer can be very busy between Naples and Sorrento
