Lakes, Lake Como, Cernobbio
Cernobbio is a beautiful village a few klms after Como. The oldest part of town is stretched out along the lake. You'll walk past lots of elegant shops, restaurants and the ancient church, and eventually you'll come to the gorgeous Villa d'Este, a 17th-century cardinal's palace that is now one of the world's most luxurious hotels.
Cernobbio is very close to Como and it is the place with the highest concentration of mansions, luxurious villas and where you can spot Hollywood film stars and Vips. One of these places is the Hotel Villa d'Este, surrounded by beautiful Italian gardens and right over the Lake. You can't miss it from the ferries, especially if you look for its second swimming pool, which floats on the lake. The piazza where you catch the boat is a great place to sit and relax or mix with the locals.
