Placed in a picturesque small cove at the top of a headland of the same name, Portofino is one of the most famous VIP resorts celebrated for its luxury tourism and the famous people who own homes there. However, it has much more to offer, starting at its natural beauties. The headland and its surrounding enjoy a unique ecosystem and were declared a protected area in 1977. Portofino is the only village of any size on the headland and numerous walking trails lead from there to the ancient monastery at at San Fruttoso and the lovely Punta (point) Chiappa.
