This imposing mid 19th century villa stands on the western shores of Lake Como, between the town of Menaggio and the village of Santa Maria Rezzonico. It faces Southeast and looks across all three branches of the lake, with the mountains in the distance - a magic view. The villa, dating back to the mid 1800's sits in the middle of an enormous botanical park of 7,000 square metres.

DescriptionThe entrance to Villa Magnolia is off the lakeside drive after Menaggio. Entering majestic wrought iron gates the driveway leads up through about 250m of lawns and richly planted gardens to the Villa. Recently restored, it retains its period charm, with the décor featuring antiques and fine paintings, Lombard cotto and timber flooring, with the addition of the amenities of a modern house, such as air conditioning, central heating, tennis, satellite TV, Hi-Fi sound system. The ground floor is predominantly given to entertaining with a reception area, the lakeview room for taking tea and an informal dining room, a further reception room, large formal dining room, a small sitting room, kitchen, bathrooms and a large games / events room. On the second to fourth floors there are 8 double and twin bedrooms, all with ensuite facilities, a sitting room, games room with billiards and childrens lounge and a large terrace for alfresco dining or coctails. All the details of the interior are of superb beauty: from the mosaic floors, wonderful wooden balustrades connecting the floors, to the statues and 19th century decorations. The villa has been recently restored with great sensitivity, and not withstanding all modern conveniences, it has retained its noble and antique atmosphere. Villa Magnolias facilities include central heating, air conditioning, swimming pool, tennis, billiards and satellite television.
PositionVilla Magnolia is situated between the town of Menaggio ( 8 Km) and the small fishing village of San Siro (was Rezzonico), at 0.5 Km. It is accessable from the lakeside drive. Airports approx. distance/time ( depending on traffic) Switzerland/Lugano: 34 km/50 min; Milano Malpensa: 95 km/ 2 hrs; Milano Linate: 65 km/1 hr 40 min; Milano Orio al Serio - Bergamo: 100 km / 2 hrs 30 min A drive down the lake (or boat ride) brings you to the town of Como, known as a vacation spot of the elite and also known for its production of fine silk. Day trips can be made by bus or car to the nearby Bellagio (15 km by ferry), Tremezzo (20 km), Como (30 Kms) Lugano, Switzerland (30 km) and to hiking in the Alps and by steamer on Como. In the village you can find a restaurant, trattoria, alimentari (grocery stores), and walks along the lake. Boat rentals, sailing and wind surfing equipment are available in S. Maria Rezzonico. There are also many fine and beautiful golf courses in the lake area; the closest golf and tennis are in Menaggio. Shoppers will also love the designer fashion factory outlets available just over the border into Switzerland and near Como.
This locality
Menaggio is situated half way up the western shore of the lake and has a pretty lakeside promenade and harbour to sit around. The town square is compact and lively and there are an assortment of small piazzas with cafe's and restaurants to relax at. The old town, sloping up the lakeshore, is appealing by virtue of its attractive setting. Included in this area are the the hill community of Cremia and the antique fishing village of S. Notes for Villa Magnolia
Important note: From mid April to the end of September the villa may only be available from Monday at 2.00 pm to Friday at 10.00 am as it is a popular venue for wedding receptions. However, bookings are taken on a first come, first serve basis and a special price will be offered for four to six day bookings in the event a wedding is being held on the weekend. Please read our Terms and Conditions regarding Villa bookings. Pool size: 10 x 6 m. Opening dates: June - September, depending on weather conditions. Pets are not allowed. The rental price includes: - all utilities including heating in low season (energy for heating and AC charged by consumption in other seasons)
- daily maid service (except on Sundays)
- final cleaning;
- Italian style breakfast (except on Sundays)
- Twice weekly change of bed, bath and kitchen linen.
Extras to be paid in Euros on the premises: - Security deposit: EUR 3,500.
- Utility deposit (unused portion will be refunded in cash on departure): EUR 500 per week for air conditioning and heating.
- Heating and air conditioning (if required): is metered and charged at cost outside low season.
- Wood for fireplace: please check price on the premises.
- Telephone: metered.
- Internet high speed connection: metered.

Nearby localities
Halfway down the eastern shore of the lake, right opposite the mouth of the Lecco branch, lies Varenna. Like a sentry standing at the crossroad of the lake, it was built on a rock promontory overshadowed by a steep mountain, at the top of which you can make out dark outline of an old ruined castle.> more
