More about Eastern Sicily

The eastern coast of Sicily is dominated by Mount Etna located on the mid east coast behind Catania. As one of the world's largest active volcanoes, it dominates the skyline from the north to the south of the east coast and makes a wonderful backdrop for photos taken from Taormina in the north to Ragusa in the south of the east coast.

Apart from Mount Etna and the black volcanic beaches around Catania, Eastern Sicily has beautiful white sandy beaches with crystal clear water, some of the worlds best archaeological sites and the antique cities of Syracuse, Noto, Ragusa, Modica and Taormina that are wonderful to discover.

Meanwhile in the hinterland vineyards, olive groves, white roads lined with beautiful dry stone walls leading to imposing landlord's mansions and family farmhouses provide unlimited excursion opportunities.
