Sicily, Syracuse
The south east corner of Sicily is the quiet province of the antique city of Syracuse (Siracusa). To the north and west the area is characterised by long stretches of lovely white sandy beaches, semi arid terrain and sprawling dry rock walls delineating paddocks and vegetable farms. The cities around this area are wonderfully original and include Syracuse, Modica, Ragusa and Catania.
