Villa Leopoldina is located is Podere Ambra, a large estate producing prize winning wines nestled between Chianti and the Crete hills of Siena. It forms part of a Medici castle taken over in the XV century by French and Siena armies, and now has been restored into four luxurious apartments, a suite and a main villa, each with generous outdoor areas, private entrances and tasteful furnishings.

Description

The surrounding landscape is that of the classic Tuscany Renaissance pictures: sweet hills and sweeping valleys, marked by noble cypress trees and adorned with vineyards, olive groves and large forests of oaks, giving shade from the heat of the summer.

Casa Sole is a self standing 'Leopoldina' villa, with a private garden of 650 sqm, barbecue and gazebo for outdoor dining. The entrance opens into a reception room, which in turn leads into a very large living area with open fireplace, divided by arches into three adjoining sitting rooms, timber ceiling beams, stone walls and fine wrought iron wall lamps.

The adjacent dining room and open plan kitchen provide access onto a beautiful veranda with pergola and outdoor dining facilities. Also on this floor is a double bedroom, with en suite bathroom, also opening to garden.

From the reception room, an original 700's stone staircase of 16 steps leads up to the first floor where there is a twin bedroom with two sets of windows and en-suite bathroom with shower, and a double bedroom with en suite shower room. All bedrooms are air conditioned.

A large swimming pool (20m), an adjacent synthetic grass tennis court and 80 acres of land containing several kilometres of scenic track are shared facilities between the five apartments and situated approximately 250m down a track from the villa.

The estate produces typical wines with spectacular character and temperament and guests are encouraged to wander in to the cantina for the odd tasting!
